Let’s face it, when it comes to our physiques, how many of us can say that we’re truly happy with the way we look, not many of us we’d wager a bet.
This is why so many people, both male and female, decide to join local gyms or fitness centres, in order to attempt to enhance their physiques and build themselves a body which they can be proud of.
Take bodybuilding for building and toning muscles for example. Many people seem to think that it’s simply a case of walking into a gym a couple of nights a week, picking up a set of dumbbells and a barbell, and lifting weights for a few hours a week.
Obviously this is total nonsense as it takes literally years upon years to build a physique to truly be proud of.
Bodybuilding requires a huge amount of sacrifice, dedication, hard work, and knowledge in order to be successful. You need to train sensibly and correctly, you need to follow a solid routine and program, you need to get your diet absolutely perfect, and you also need to consider the role of basic health supplements to help give you a little nudge in the right direction.
As well as those three examples however, there is also the role of basic genetics to consider.
You can have the greatest program, desire, diet, and supplement regime in the entire world, but if your genetics are against you, you simply won’t be growing at the rate in which you should be.
Take low testosterone for instance, this hormone, naturally present in the body, plays a huge role in muscle building and function, but when stores of this hormone become low, that’s when people can really struggle.
What is testosterone, and how does it affect muscle growth?
Basically, testosterone is the male sexual hormone that is primarily secreted from the testicles of males.
It plays a hugely important role in the growth and development of tissues in the body, including those found within the muscles.
It also helps to promote a number of other characteristics including fertility, libido, bone mass, metabolism, bone density, muscle mass, muscle tone, and the growth of facial, body, and pubic hair on the body.
Not surprisingly then, those with higher testosterone levels, generally find it much easier to build muscle and to lose body fat.
People with low testosterone levels often find themselves lacking energy, lacking libido, and find it a real chore to build muscle through exercising, no matter how intensely they may be training.
Now, obviously they do still enjoy some muscle gain, but if a person with a healthy, or a high testosterone count were to train and eat in exactly the same way as the individual with the low test count, they’d be far more likely to gain more lean muscle mass, in a much quicker period of time too.
Simply put, those with low testosterone levels, have to work harder in the gym, and have to be a great deal more patient.
With that being said, a person can still have a naturally low testosterone count and build muscle, but it will take much longer, will require much more work, and the results may not be as impressive as a person with a regular count.
Is there anything that can be done to combat low testosterone levels?
Absolutely, yes. These days, it’s extremely easy for your Doctor to take a reading of your testosterone levels, where after, they should be able to provide you with a few options regarding treatments.
There are ways of naturally increasing testosterone, and some Doctors may even prescribe Hormone Replacement Therapy in extreme cases.
Testosterone can actually be injected into the body to help boost levels of this hormone, although it’s highly recommended that you seek medical advice if you’re considering this course of action.
For a less extreme method however, there are testosterone boosters that have been proven to help marginally increase testosterone levels.
Zinc is great mineral supplement for combating this problem, as well as the supplement ‘Tribulus Terrestris’ a natural herbal remedy, which is also a popular bodybuilding supplement.
There are other ways of increasing your testosterone levels, including changing your diet, and cutting out any poor lifestyle choices including heavy alcoholic drinking or smoking.
These may sound like small things, but when you combine them all together, they can make a really noticeable difference.
