Larissa Reis was born (May 21, 1979) in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil and from an early age was taught the value of hard work.
Of course genetics has a part to play, but with hard work Larissa found it easy to stay fit and lean during her childhood.
“Ever since I can remember; I have been living a fit lifestyle. From a very young age I was either practicing a specific sport such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or working out at the local gym.”
At college, Larissa was approached by Playboy Brazil, who selected her to become a playmate in 2003, however she soon become disheartened with this choice, and before long made a decision to move to the US to pursue a career in fitness.
“I came to America to compete with the best fitness athletes in the world.”
Once the move was complete, she soon started to take her training much more seriously. And with the help of a personal trainer took part in her first show in 2005, the South American Championship, which she duly won.
Her next success was winning the 2006 Brazilian Championship, but it wasn’t until 2007 that she managed to fulfil her dream of becoming a professional athlete.
In 2007, at the age of 27, Larissa competed in the IFBB World Championship held in Barcelona. She finished in second place, which earned her pro card.
Larissa has competed in numerous shows since earning her pro card, but despite her efforts has not been able to replicate her early success. Since her first show in 2008 (the New York Pro) she has only the one win to her name, the 2009 Atlantic City Pro.
Despite this disappointment Larissa is seen as one of the most popular female bodybuilders, and one of the greatest female physiques in the world.
This has led to her becoming an Internet sensation, with loads of fans following her on social media.
Larissa is a female fitness icon, who has earned her success with hard work and dedication.
“To realise one’s purpose in life is a goal that all successful people aspire to do.”
